We are thrilled to announce that a rather large parcel has arrived from Honda Canada with a brand spanking new Honda Rototiller. How did this happen?
Marie wrote the following letter to Honda and sent it off to Honda Headquarters. Time went by and about two years ago she was very excited when two representatives came from Japan. She watched excitedly as they measured the worn out tongs of her aged (ANTIQUE) rototiller and went on their way. With the help of Richard and Gayle McGraw and the Honda Canada office, Marie got her new Honda at long last.
Dear Honda,
I purchased my Honda in the spring of '82 in Red Deer, Alberta. I picked a Honda because of its safety features, how quiet the motor was, how easy it starts on the first pull, and since it's self propelled you can turn it on a dime, that’s a Honda.
My first spring teaching I used it to plant 2 acres of mixed vegetables on a south facing hill, and 30 individual garden plots passed through the tongs of my Honda tiller in its first 5 months. I knew then it would be difficult to separate me from my Honda. For the next seven years it was my Honda cultivating 13 acres of land every spring, tons of extra spring jobs tilling about 50 garden plots. It ran 6 hours a day, 5 days a week, used by dozens and dozens of youth who learned the Honda Experience, an experience for all ages. My work is teaching safe agriculture, which is what brought me to Mexico in the fall of 1990, but not without my Honda at my side. We were facing some of the biggest challenges; the Honda was not afraid, it has rolled with rocks of the land and led a path so that the seeds could be planted to help the ones who needed it most. For the past 23 years Honda has never let us down, it has no down time, it's the first to start and the last to stop. The reason I am sharing this to you is because Honda has been on my wish list. For these past 15 years it's been by my side teaching in Mexico, together with the community, we started a 5 acre eco training centre. Our Centre is giving the local and international students hands on organic training experience with organic farming for development of community and school garden projects. My first students are now the teachers, they grew up with this Honda of mine... anyhow they strongly suggested I write to tell you about our Honda experience and hinted about upgrading some of our equipment. So if it's at all possible, I’d like to know if we could return it for a new one.
Sincerely,
Marie Pruden
