ACÁ is an agricultural education association that fosters development of self-sufficiency in Mexican communities. Founded by two Canadian women, Marie Pruden and Wendee Hill, ACÁ is a registered Mexican Non-Profit organization, governed by an all-female Board of Directors.
ACÁ's Mission Statement:
Our mission is to assist Mexican communities with sustainable resource management by developing community markets and opportunities from the ground up.
At ACÁ, we:
- Teach safe organic agriculture techniques.
- Teach water, land and natural resource conservation.
- Create co-operative markets.
- Encourage public interest in safe agriculture and organic practices.
Thus, we:
- Create a sense of stewardship towards the environment.
- Create a sustainable micro-economy.
- Unite local, national, and international interest groups in this pursuit.
100% of the net proceeds from our efforts go to support the many ACA multicultural community programs in our area. In addition, ACA donates produce and personnel hours to local schools and community organizations.
ACÁ's Goal
ACA strives to improve the quality of life in Mexican communities through practical sustainble organic farming training, including soil enrichment and water management. ACA programs promote eco-safe solutions at the community level and provide garden development supporting ecologically sound standards which conserve natural resources. Aca's trained participants become the teachers in their own communities, creating a multiplier effect and the catalyst to long-term community development
