Get involved and help ACÁ grow! We'd love your help with everything from an hour's weeding to major fundraising events. Take a look through the list, then email us and let us know how you'd like to help out. Many of these require just a few hours a month, and some could be done from anywhere in the world, so don't be shy!
Please consider volunteering a couple hours a week.
- Help out at Gg's Organic Market a couple of mornings a week
- We need a correspondent to write various letters twice a month
- Make deliveries 9:30 on Tuesdays to L.C.S.
- Make products with our herbs, or harvest and package dried herbs
- Identify and label
plants at the Eco Training Center
- Refill and copy handouts and keep in-store signage up to date.
- We need a maintenance man to oil & grease the equipment regularly.
- Come out anytime and help us weed

Eco Training Center Development
- appropriate highway visibility and presentation to improve Eco Center visibility (signage, landscaping) for car traffic at Gg’s co-op store and to encourage tours of the Eco-training center.
- Carpentry projects are needed to create a welcoming environment: accents for urban garden model, seed bank and exchange boxes, seating areas, poultry nesting boxes,
- Multi-use coral –I.PPPM ( integrated pest plant and poultry management : work with a contractor and set up of poultry reproduction.
Public Attactions Coordinator(s)
- Help out with monthly public attractions at ACA, including: workshops, movie screenings, discussion panels, volunteer meetings, etc.
- Promote attractions to public
Computer/ Web Volunteers
- Update current ACA website regularly, with Fresh News e-newsletter, Course, workshop, class schedules and seasonal Fun raisers at the farm.
- Create and manage database for produce distribution and production
Translation Volunteer
- Translate content from ACA website into Spanish
- Translate content from ACA promotional materials into Spanish
October Harvet Fair Coordinator(s) – this is the largest single fundraising event for ACÁ.
- Promote Harvest Fest to public, ticket pre-sales, seek local business sponsors etc.
- Develop and coordinate layout & booking of area events for Harvest Fair ( local products, Arts, Food Fair, and entertainment.
- Research natural products/ producers with appropriate products for Harvest Fair vendors
Volunteer with Experience in Statistics/ Strategic Planning
- Develop outcome measurements and statistics on ACA program participants
- Develop feasibility
study to establish information for future ACA
Community Needs Assessment Volunteers
- Develop Market surveys for the Mexican and ex-pat communities at Lakeside, to determine knowledge of and interest in ACA quick workshops and types of community programs desired.
- Implement specific community based survey in the local communities ACA has programs operating including: Ajijic, Ixtlahuacán, Tizapan, El Chante, and Jocotepec
- Assimilate data and determine specific outcomes.
- Compile a list of
suggestions, based on the surveys, for ACA’s strategic sustainability
direction setting for 2007-08
‘Buy Local’ Campaign Volunteers
- Research Buy Local campaigns in other cities. Discover and foster new alliances with local, like-minded organizations.
- Develop promotional materials on the importance of buying locally, to be distributed to the public.
- Work with the Public Attractions Coordinator(s) to organize public events, including Discussion Forums, movie screenings, workshops, demonstrations and courses.
Product Development
- Harvest & creatively package herbs for GG’s co-op store
- Research additional natural products/ producers with appropriate products for October Harvest Fair vendors, as well as local products for Gg’s co-op store.
Fundraising professional
- Analyze our strengths and weaknesses in fundraising and develop new techniques for fundraising
P.R person
- Strengthen personal contact with journalists, write articles for local media and raise international public awareness on the issues relating to the environment. Increasing the support of the media allows to ACA to spread the message of Planting for the Future on a national level.
An Internship Coordinator
- Correspond with international intern applicants as needed.
Volunteer coordinator
- Attract new volunteers from the local communities, from different levels and fields
- Promote ACA volunteerism and the formation of “committed support”
- Improve communication to increase the volunteers’ work inside the organization,
- Participate in committees and programs, and in the decision making process.
Data base management
- Maintain an up to date database of enrolled
participants, volunteers, and supporters. The database is the instrument
to report on our beneficiaries, our audience and the people that will
help us in the implementation of the projects
Promotion
- Develop “ Buy Local “ promotional materials for Great Greens veggies, to be distributed to public.
- In store promotions
of GG’s country market including creative ideas for displaying, mixing,
and preparing veggies.
Outreach Projects
- Assist in start-up of internet café/computer lab in El Chante, including: preparation and installation of donated computers.
- Develop a broad based summer Eco-Center promotion to attract children to Saturday Kids Camps
Volunteers are our primary donors and increasing volunteerism is an important step towards program expansion. Help us improve our internal resources and incorporate volunteers more deeply into our organization, a move that will lead us to be more active and more efficient. Volunteers allow us also to manage a large amount of services and improve our projects to make an greater impact
